Context of Ezekiel 35:15
13You said many proud things to insult me. You thought that you were greater than me. I heard everything that you said! 14So this is what the Almighty Lord says: I will make your land become a desert. All the people in the world will be very happy when they see this. You were happy when you saw me punish Israel's people so that their land became a desert. Because you were happy, I will punish you as you deserve. Mount Seir and all the land of Edom will become an empty desert. Then Edom's people will know that I am the Lord.” ’

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 15So will I do unto thee - Others shall rejoice in thy downfall as thou hast rejoiced at their downfall. This whole chapter strongly inculcates this maxim: Do as thou wouldst be done by; and what thou wouldst not have done to thee, do not to others. And from it we learn that every man may, in some sort, be said to make his own temporal good or evil; for as he does to others, God will take care to do to him, whether it be evil or good, weal or wo. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 10-15Verses 10-15 When we see the vanity of the world in the disappointments, losses, and crosses, which others meet with, instead of showing ourselves greedy of worldly things, we should sit more loose to them. In the multitude of words, not one is unknown to God; not the most idle word; and the most daring is not above his rebuke. In the destruction of the enemies of the church, God designs his own glory; and we may be sure that he will not come short of his…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 13-15The Edomites wrongly thought that God's judgment on his people and his leaving the temple meant his covenant with Israel had ended. The Edomites boasted and elevated themselves above both Israel and the Lord. The God of Israel would not allow such boasting, for he is the ruler of all. His choice of Israel and his gift of the land to them would not be taken back.Read the comment
