Context of Daniel 7:28
26Then God's court will be ready to judge him. He will lose his authority to rule as king. That will be the end of his kingdom for ever! 27Then the holy people who belong to the Most High God will receive authority to rule as kings. They will have authority over all the kingdoms of the earth and all their great power. The kingdom of the Most High God will continue for ever. All rulers will serve him and obey him.” That is a report of everything that I saw in my vision. It caused me, Daniel, to have much trouble in my mind and my face became white. But I did not tell anyone about these things.’

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 28The end of the matter - So said the expounding angel; and he said so because the purpose of God had determined it. In considering these things, and looking at the evils that shall come upon the world before those auspicious times can take place, I may say with Daniel, My cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I keep the matter of my conjectures and consequent feelings in my own heart.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 28Hitherto is the end of the matter - That is, the end of what I saw and heard.
