Context of Proverbs 28:13
11A rich man is wise in his own eyes; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out. 12When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men conceal themselves. He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh [them] shall obtain mercy. 14Happy is the man that feareth always; but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into evil. 15A roaring lion, and a ranging bear, is a wicked ruler over a poor people.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 13He that covereth his sins - Here is a general direction relative to conversion. God will never admit a sinful, unhumbled soul, into his kingdom. 2. But if he confess his sin, with a penitent and broken heart, and, by forsaking every evil way, give this proof that he…Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 13Verse 13 It is folly to indulge sin, and excuse it. He who covers his sins, shall not have any true peace. He who humbly confesses his sins, with true repentance and faith, shall find mercy from God. The Son of God is our great atonement. Under a deep sense of our guilt and danger, we may claim salvation from that mercy which reigns through righteousness unto eternal life, by Jesus Christ our Lord.Read the comment
