Context of Mark 14:62
60And the high priest, rising up before them all, asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? What do these testify against thee? 61But he was silent, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and says to him, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Jesus said, I am, and ye shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of power, and coming with the clouds of heaven. 63And the high priest, having rent his clothes, says, What need have we any more of witnesses? 64Ye have heard the blasphemy; what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 53-65Verses 53-65 We have here Christ's condemnation before the great council of the Jews. Peter followed; but the high priest's fire-side was no proper place, nor his servants proper company, for Peter: it was an entrance into temptation. Great diligence was used to procure false witnesses against Jesus, yet their testimony was not equal to the charge of a capital crime, by the utmost stretch of their law. He was asked, Art thou the Son of the Blessed? that…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 62I am: Compare with study note on 6:49–50. Mark's audience has known from the beginning that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God (1:1). This was acknowledged: by demons (1:24; 3:11; 5:7), by God (1:11; 9:7), and by the disciples (8:29–30). But this is the first time that Jesus openly and publicly acknowledged that he was the Christ (the Messiah, God's chosen one). The second part of the reply Jesus gave was that he would sit at God’s right hand, the place…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 6262. And Jesus said, I am--or, as in Matthew (Mt 26:64), "Thou hast said [it]." In Luke, however (Lu 22:70), the answer, "Ye say that I am," should be rendered--as De Wette, Meyer, Ellicott, and the best critics agree that the preposition requires--"Ye say [it], for I am [so]." Some words, however, were spoken by our Lord before giving His answer to this solemn question. These are recorded by Luke alone (Lu 22:67, 68): "Art Thou the Christ [they asked]?…Read the comment
