Context of Psalms 27:12
10Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord cares for me. 11Because of my adversaries, show me your way, Lord, and lead me on a level path. Do not give me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing violence. 13I am certain that I will see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living. 14Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Wait for the Lord.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 12Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies - Let them not accomplish their desires in regard to me; let them not be able to carry out their purposes. The word here rendered “will” means properly “soul,” but it is used here evidently to denote “wish” or “desire.” Compare Psalm 35:25. When we are foolishly making court to lying vanities, God is, in love to us, calling us to seek our own mercies in him. The call is general, "Seek ye my face;" but we must apply it to ourselves, "I will seek it." The word does us no good, when we do not…Read the comment
