Context of Psalms 27:12
10Although my father and my mother have abandoned me, Yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child]. 11Teach me Your way, O Lord, And lead me on a level path Because of my enemies [who lie in wait]. Do not give me up to the will of my adversaries, For false witnesses have come against me; They breathe out violence. 13I would have despaired had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. 14Wait for and confidently expect the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for and confidently expect the Lord.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 12Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies - To their soul בנפש benephesh ; their whole soul thirsts for my destruction. Let them not be gratified. - Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 12Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies - Let them not accomplish their desires in regard to me; let them not be able to carry out their purposes. God calls us by his Spirit, by his word, by his worship, and by special providences, merciful and afflicting. When we are foolishly making court to lying vanities, God is, in love to us, calling us to seek our own mercies in him.
