Context of Matthew 22:24
22When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away. 23That same day some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came up to him and questioned him: “Teacher, Moses said, if a man dies, having no children, his brother is to marry his wife and raise up offspring for his brother. 25Now there were seven brothers among us. The first got married and died. Having no offspring, he left his wife to his brother. 26The same thing happened to the second also, and the third, and so on to all seven.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 24Raise up seed unto his brother - This law is mentioned Deuteronomy 25:5. The meaning of the expression is, that the children produced by this marriage should be reckoned in the genealogy of the deceased brother, and enjoy his estates. The word seed should be always translated children or posterity. There is a law precisely similar to this among the Hindoos.Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 23-33Verses 23-33 The doctrines of Christ displeased the infidel Sadducees, as well as the Pharisees and Herodians. He carried the great truths of the resurrection and a future state, further than they had yet been reveled. There is no arguing from the state of things in this world, as to what will take place hereafter. Let truth be set in a clear light, and it appears in full strength. Having thus silenced them, our Lord proceeded to show the truth of the…Read the comment
