Context of Micah 4:5
3Then He will judge between many peoples and arbitrate for strong nations far and wide. Then they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will no longer take up the sword against nation, nor will they train anymore for war. 4And each man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, with no one to frighten him. For the mouth of the LORD of Hosts has spoken. Though all the nations may walk in the name of their gods, yet we will walk in the name of the LORD our God forever and ever. 6“On that day,” declares the LORD, “I will gather the lame; I will assemble the outcast, even those whom I have afflicted. 7And I will make the lame into a remnant, the outcast into a strong nation. Then the LORD will rule over them in Mount Zion from that day and forever.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 5Every one in the name of his god - This shall be the state of the Gentile world; but after the captivity, the Jews walked in the name of Jehovah alone; and acknowledge no other object of religious worship to the present day.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 5For all people well walk, every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God - Hitherto unsteadfastness had been the very characteristic sin of Israel. It was, “constant only in its inconstancy,” ever “falling away like their forefathers, starting aside like a broken bow” Psalm 78:57. The pagan persevered in their worship, because it was evil or had evil in it, not checking but feeding their passions. Israel did not…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-5Micah's prophecy shifts from deep despair to a burst of hope as he describes the future rise of Mount Zion in Jerusalem. God's plan to bless all nations (Genesis 12:3) through Abraham's descendants will come true when people from all nations gather at the Lord's house to worship. There: they will learn to follow God's laws and teachings; these laws and teachings will spread among the nations as they leave God's house; peace and well-being will grow as…Read the comment

The resolution of the exile Jews is: As Jehovah gives us hope of so glorious a restoration, notwithstanding the overthrow of our temple and nation, we must in confident reliance on His promise persevere in the true worship of Him, however…Read the comment
