Context of Mark 9:7
5And Peter answereth and saith to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. 6For he knew not what to answer; for they became sore afraid. And there came a cloud overshadowing them: and there came a voice out of the cloud, This is my beloved Son: hear ye him. 8And suddenly looking round about, they saw no one any more, save Jesus only with themselves. 9And as they were coming down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, save when the Son of man should have risen again from the dead.

Mark 9:3 No fuller - Rather, no “scourer.” The office of the person here mentioned was to “scour” or “whiten” cloth; not to “full” it, or to render it thicker. Mark 9:6 He wist not - He “knew not.” He was desirous of saying something, and he knew not what would be proper.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 7a cloud: Compare Exodus 40:34–35. The voice from the cloud gave a strong correction to Peter’s suggestion: This is My beloved Son. He is not equal to Moses and Elijah. God’s voice also confirmed what Peter had said earlier (Mark 8:29). At the same time, it gently corrected Peter for rejecting the prediction Jesus made about his suffering (8:32). God told Peter and the other disciples to listen to Jesus.Read the comment
