Context of Ezekiel 24:8
6Therefore thus says Adonai Elohim: “Oy to the city of bloodshed, to the pot whose corrosion is in it, whose rust will not come off it! Draw it out piece by piece —no lot would fall for it. 7For her bloodshed is in her midst. She put it on the bare rock; she did not pour it upon the ground to cover it with dust. So it stirs up wrath for taking vengeance. I have put her blood on the bare rock, that it may not be covered.” 9Therefore thus says Adonai Elohim: ‘Oy to the city of bloodshed! I will also make the pile great, 10heaping on the wood, kindling the fire, boiling the meat well, and mixing in spices. But let the bones be burned!

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 6-8The cooking pot was too dirty to clean. Jerusalem was full of blood that she had shed and left uncovered. The Old Testament required that people cover the blood of animals killed for meat with earth (Leviticus 17:13). By leaving the blood of innocent victims uncovered, Jerusalem was doubly guilty. Her own blood would rightly be splashed on the rocks (compare Psalm 137:8–9).Read the comment
