Context of 1 Peter 4:10
8Above all, keep your love for one another constant, for “love covers a multitude of sins.” 9Be hospitable one to another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of the many-sided grace of God. 11Whoever speaks, let it be as one speaking the utterances of God. Whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies. So in all things may God be glorified through Messiah Yeshua—all glory and power to Him forever and ever! Amen. 12Loved ones, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal taking place among you to test you—as though something strange were happening to you.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 10Hath received the gift - · A gift; any blessing of providence or grace. I cannot think that the word means here the Holy Ghost, or any of his supernatural gifts or influences; it may include those, but it signifies any thing given by the mere mercy and bounty of God: but perhaps in this place it may signify some or any office in the Church; and this sense, indeed, the connection seems to require.
