Context of Exodus 22:25
23If thou shalt afflict them in any way, and they cry at all to me, I will surely hear their cry; 24And my wrath shall burn, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. If thou shalt lend money to any of my people that is poor among you, thou shalt not be to him as a money-lender, neither shalt thou charge him interest. 26If thou shalt at all take thy neighbour’s raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it to him by the setting of the sun. 27For that is his only covering, it is his raiment for his skin: what shall he sleep in? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth to me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

"The increase of usury is called נשך neshech, because it resembles the biting of a serpent; for as this is so small as scarcely to be perceptible at first, but the venom soon spreads and diffuses itself till it reaches the vitals, so the increase of usury, which at first is not…Read the comment

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1-311-4. If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep--The law respects the theft of cattle which constituted the chief part of their property. The penalty for the theft of a sheep which was slain or sold, was fourfold; for an ox fivefold, because of its greater utility in labor; but, should the stolen animal have been recovered alive, a double compensation was all that was required, because it was presumable he (the thief) was not a practised adept in dishonesty…Read the comment
