8Now in the eighteenthH6240H8083 yearH8141 of his reignH4427, when he had purgedH2891 the landH776, and the houseH1004, he sentH7971 ShaphanH8227 the sonH1121 of AzaliahH683, and MaaseiahH4641 the governorH8269 of the cityH5892, and JoahH3098 the sonH1121 of JoahazH3099 the recorderH2142, to repairH2388 the houseH1004 of YhwhH3068 his GodH430. 9And when they cameH935 to HilkiahH2518 the highH1419 priestH3548, they deliveredH5414 the moneyH3701 that was broughtH935 into the houseH1004 of GodH430, which the LevitesH3881 that keptH8104 the doorsH5592 had gatheredH622 of the handH3027 of ManassehH4519 and EphraimH669, and of all the remnantH7611 of IsraelH3478, and of all JudahH3063 and BenjaminH1144; and they returnedH3427H7725 to JerusalemH3389. 10And they putH5414 it in the handH3027 of the workmenH4399H6213 that had the oversightH6485 of the houseH1004 of YhwhH3068, and they gaveH5414 it to the workmenH4399H6213 that wroughtH6213 in the houseH1004 of YhwhH3068, to repairH918 and amendH2388 the houseH1004: 11Even to the artificersH2796 and buildersH1129 gaveH5414 they it, to buyH7069 hewnH4274 stoneH68, and timberH6086 for couplingsH4226, and to floorH7136 the housesH1004 which the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 had destroyedH7843.1 12And the menH582 didH6213 the workH4399 faithfullyH530: and the overseersH5329 of them were JahathH3189 and ObadiahH5662, the LevitesH3881, of the sonsH1121 of MerariH4847; and ZechariahH2148 and MeshullamH4918, of the sons of the KohathitesH6956, to set it forwardH6485; and other of the LevitesH3881, all that could skillH995 of instrumentsH3627 of musickH7892. 13Also they were over the bearers of burdensH5449, and were overseersH5329 of all that wroughtH6213 the workH4399 in any manner of serviceH5656: and of the LevitesH3881 there were scribesH5608, and officersH7860, and portersH7778.

14And when they brought outH3318 the moneyH3701 that was brought intoH935 the houseH1004 of YhwhH3068, HilkiahH2518 the priestH3548 foundH4672 a bookH5612 of the lawH8451 of YhwhH3068 given byH3027 MosesH4872.2 15And HilkiahH2518 answeredH6030 and saidH559 to ShaphanH8227 the scribeH5608, I have foundH4672 the bookH5612 of the lawH8451 in the houseH1004 of YhwhH3068. And HilkiahH2518 deliveredH5414 the bookH5612 to ShaphanH8227. 16And ShaphanH8227 carriedH935 the bookH5612 to the kingH4428, and broughtH7725 the kingH4428 wordH1697 backH7725 again, sayingH559, All that was committedH5414 toH3027 thy servantsH5650, they doH6213 it.3 17And they have gathered togetherH5413 the moneyH3701 that was foundH4672 in the houseH1004 of YhwhH3068, and have deliveredH5414 it into the handH3027 of the overseersH6485, and to the handH3027 of the workmenH4399H6213.4 18Then ShaphanH8227 the scribeH5608 toldH5046 the kingH4428, sayingH559, HilkiahH2518 the priestH3548 hath givenH5414 me a bookH5612. And ShaphanH8227 readH7121 it beforeH6440 the kingH4428.5 19And it came to pass, when the kingH4428 had heardH8085 the wordsH1697 of the lawH8451, that he rentH7167 his clothesH899. 20And the kingH4428 commandedH6680 HilkiahH2518, and AhikamH296 the sonH1121 of ShaphanH8227, and AbdonH5658 the sonH1121 of MicahH4318, and ShaphanH8227 the scribeH5608, and AsaiahH6222 a servantH5650 of the king’sH4428, sayingH559,6 21GoH3212, enquireH1875 of YhwhH3068 for me, and for them that are leftH7604 in IsraelH3478 and in JudahH3063, concerning the wordsH1697 of the bookH5612 that is foundH4672: for greatH1419 is the wrathH2534 of YhwhH3068 that is poured outH5413 upon us, because our fathersH1 have not keptH8104 the wordH1697 of YhwhH3068, to doH6213 after all that is writtenH3789 in this bookH5612. 22And HilkiahH2518, and they that the kingH4428 had appointed, wentH3212 to HuldahH2468 the prophetessH5031, the wifeH802 of ShallumH7967 the sonH1121 of TikvathH8445H8616, the sonH1121 of HasrahH2641, keeperH8104 of the wardrobeH899; (now she dweltH3427 in JerusalemH3389 in the collegeH4932:) and they spakeH1696 to her to that effect.789

23And she answeredH559 them, Thus saithH559 YhwhH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478, TellH559 ye the manH376 that sentH7971 you to me, 24Thus saithH559 YhwhH3068, Behold, I will bringH935 evilH7451 upon this placeH4725, and upon the inhabitantsH3427 thereof, even all the cursesH423 that are writtenH3789 in the bookH5612 which they have readH7121 beforeH6440 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063: 25Because they have forsakenH5800 me, and have burned incenseH6999 unto otherH312 godsH430, that they might provoke me to angerH3707 with all the worksH4639 of their handsH3027; therefore my wrathH2534 shall be poured outH5413 upon this placeH4725, and shall not be quenchedH3518. 26And as forH413 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, who sentH7971 you to enquireH1875 of YhwhH3068, so shall ye sayH559 unto him, Thus saithH559 YhwhH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 concerning the wordsH1697 which thou hast heardH8085; 27Because thine heartH3824 was tenderH7401, and thou didst humbleH3665 thyself beforeH6440 GodH430, when thou heardestH8085 his wordsH1697 against this placeH4725, and against the inhabitantsH3427 thereof, and humbledstH3665 thyself beforeH6440 me, and didst rendH7167 thy clothesH899, and weepH1058 beforeH6440 me; I have even heardH8085 thee also, saithH5002 YhwhH3068. 28Behold, I will gatherH622 thee to thy fathersH1, and thou shalt be gatheredH622 to thy graveH6913 in peaceH7965, neither shall thine eyesH5869 seeH7200 all the evilH7451 that I will bringH935 upon this placeH4725, and upon the inhabitantsH3427 of the same. So they broughtH7725 the kingH4428 wordH1697 againH7725.
