Context of Ezekiel 7:2
1Then this message came to me from the Lord: “Son of man, this is what the Sovereign Lord says to Israel: “The end is here! Wherever you look— east, west, north, or south— your land is finished. 3No hope remains, for I will unleash my anger against you. I will call you to account for all your detestable sins. 4I will turn my eyes away and show no pity. I will repay you for all your detestable sins. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

Commentaries on Ezekiel 7:2
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 2An end, the end is come - Instead of הקץ בא קץ kets ba hakkets, one MS. of Kennicott's, one of De Rossi's, and one of my own, read הקץ בא בא קץ kets ba, ba hakkets,"The end cometh, come is the end." This reading is supported by all the ancient Versions, and is undoubtedly genuine. The end Cometh: the termination of the Jewish state is coming, and while I am speaking, it is come. The destruction is at the door. The later hand, who put the vowel points to…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-2As the prophet shared his message, the scope of the threatened judgment grew, like ripples from a stone in a pond. Now, the judgment was not just for Israel, as in Ezekiel 6, but for the entire land, east, west, north, and south. This global judgment on God's people would be like the end of the world. Judgment was no longer near, as in earlier messages. It had arrived.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1-272. An end, the end--The indefinite "an" expresses the general fact of God bringing His long-suffering towards the whole of Judea to an end; "the," following, marks it as more definitely fixed (Am 8:2).Read the comment
