Context of Acts 20:12

10Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms around him. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “He’s alive!” 11Then he went upstairs again and broke bread and ate. After talking until daylight, he left. The people took the young man home alive and were greatly comforted. 13We went on ahead to the ship and sailed for Assos, where we were going to take Paul aboard. He had made this arrangement because he was going there on foot. 14When he met us at Assos, we took him aboard and went on to Mitylene.

• Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 7-12Verses 7-12 Though the disciples read, and meditated, and prayed, and sung apart, and thereby kept up communion with God, yet they came together to worship God, and so kept up their communion with one another. In the breaking of the bread, not only the breaking of Christ's body for us, to be a sacrifice for our sins, is remembered…Read the comment
• Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 7-12On the first day of the week, the early church remembered the resurrection of Jesus (see Mark 16:9; compare John 20:19; Revelation 1:10). This likely included both the bread and cup (communion) and a shared meal (compare Acts 2:42, 46; Jude 1:12). One notable part of this gathering was the quiet miracle involving Eutychus. He was a…Read the comment
