Context of Psalms 68:11
9O God, you cause abundant showers to fall on your chosen people. When they are tired, you sustain them, 10for you live among them. You sustain the oppressed with your good blessings, O God. The Lord speaks; many, many women spread the good news. 12Kings leading armies run away – they run away! The lovely lady of the house divides up the loot. 13When you lie down among the sheepfolds, the wings of the dove are covered with silver and with glittering gold.

Such is the literal translation of this passage; the reader may make of it what he pleases. Some think it refers to the women who, with music, songs, and dances, celebrated the victories of the Israelites over their enemies. But the publication of good news, or of any joyful event, belonged to the women. It was…Read the comment

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 7-14Verses 7-14 Fresh mercies should put us in mind of former mercies. If God bring his people into a wilderness, he will be sure to go before them in it, and to bring them out of it. He provided for them, both in the wilderness and in Canaan. The daily manna seems here meant. And it looks to the spiritual provision for God's Israel. The Spirit of grace and the gospel of grace are the plentiful rain, with which God confirms his inheritance, and from which…Read the comment
