Context of Psalms 3:6
4To the Lord I cried out, and he answered me from his holy hill. (Selah) 5I rested and slept; I awoke, for the Lord protects me. I am not afraid of the multitude of people who attack me from all directions. 7Rise up, Lord! Deliver me, my God! Yes, you will strike all my enemies on the jaw; you will break the teeth of the wicked. 8The Lord delivers; you show favor to your people. (Selah)

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 6I will not be afraid - As the result of this new proof of the divine protection, and in view of all that God has done and has promised, the psalmist now says that he would not be afraid though any number of foes should rise up against him. Perhaps this confiding and exulting spirit may be regarded in some measure as the “result” of the calm and refreshing slumber which he had enjoyed. He had always been very safe under the Divine protection. This is applicable to the common mercies of every night, for which we ought to give thanks every morning…Read the comment
