Context of Psalms 103:18
16but when the hot wind blows by, it disappears, and one can no longer even spot the place where it once grew. 17But the Lord continually shows loyal love to his faithful followers, and is faithful to their descendants, to those who keep his covenant, who are careful to obey his commands. 19The Lord has established his throne in heaven; his kingdom extends over everything. 20Praise the Lord, you angels of his, you powerful warriors who carry out his decrees and obey his orders!

The promise is ample, and the fidelity of God is certain, but still it is true that in those promises, and in that fidelity, it is implied that…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 15-18Verses 15-18 How short is man's life, and uncertain! The flower of the garden is commonly more choice, and will last the longer, for being sheltered by the garden-wall, and the gardener's care; but the flower of the field, to which life is here compared, is not only withering in itself, but exposed to the cold blasts, and liable to be cropt and trod on by the beasts of the field.
