Context of Mark 6:32
30Then the apostles gathered around Jesus and told him everything they had done and taught. 31He said to them, “Come with me privately to an isolated place and rest a while” (for many were coming and going, and there was no time to eat). So they went away by themselves in a boat to some remote place. 33But many saw them leaving and recognized them, and they hurried on foot from all the towns and arrived there ahead of them. 34As Jesus came ashore he saw the large crowd and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he taught them many things.

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 3232. And they departed into a desert place by ship privately--"over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias," says John (Joh 6:1), the only one of the Evangelists who so fully describes it; the others having written when their readers were supposed to know something of it, while the last wrote for those at a greater distance of time and place.
