Context of Isaiah 46:10
8Remember this, so you can be brave! Think about it, you rebels! 9Remember what I accomplished in antiquity! Truly I am God, I have no peer; I am God, and there is none like me, who announces the end from the beginning and reveals beforehand what has not yet occurred, who says, ‘My plan will be realized, I will accomplish what I desire,’ 11who summons an eagle from the east, from a distant land, one who carries out my plan. Yes, I have decreed, yes, I will bring it to pass; I have formulated a plan, yes, I will carry it out. 12Listen to me, you stubborn people, you who distance yourself from doing what is right.

Commentaries on Isaiah 46:10
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 10Declaring the end from the beginning - Foretelling accurately the course of future events. This is an argument to which God often appeals in proof that he is the only true God (see Isaiah 41:22-23; Isaiah 43:12; Isaiah 44:26). My counsel shall stand - My purpose, my design, my will. The phrase shall stand‘ means that it shall be stable, settled, fixed, established. This proves: 1. That God has a purpose or plan in regard to human affairs. If he had not…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 5-13Verses 5-13 Here the folly of those who made idols, and then prayed to them, is exposed. How does the profuseness of idolaters shame the niggardliness of many who call themselves God's servants, but are for a religion which costs them nothing! The service of sin always costs a great deal. God puts it to them what senseless, helpless things idols are. Let, then, the Jews show themselves men, avoiding such abominations. Many Scripture prophecies, delivered…Read the comment
