Context of Isaiah 46:10
8Remember this, and take courage. Recall your rebellious acts. 9Remember the first events, because I am God, and there is no other. I am God, and there’s no one like me. From the beginning I revealed the end. From long ago I told you things that had not yet happened, saying, “My plan will stand, and I’ll do everything I intended to do.” 11I will call a bird of prey from the east. I will call someone for my plan from a faraway land. I have spoken, and I will bring it about. I have planned it, and I will do it. 12Listen to me, you stubborn people who are far from being righteous.

Commentaries on Isaiah 46:10
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 10Declaring the end from the beginning - Foretelling accurately the course of future events. This is an argument to which God often appeals in proof that he is the only true God (see Isaiah 41:22-23; Isaiah 43:12; Isaiah 44:26). My counsel shall stand - My purpose, my design, my will. The phrase shall stand‘ means that it shall be stable, settled, fixed, established. This proves: 1. That God has a purpose or plan in regard to human affairs. If he had not…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 5-13Verses 5-13 Here the folly of those who made idols, and then prayed to them, is exposed. How does the profuseness of idolaters shame the niggardliness of many who call themselves God's servants, but are for a religion which costs them nothing! The service of sin always costs a great deal. God puts it to them what senseless, helpless things idols are. Let, then, the Jews show themselves men, avoiding such abominations. Many Scripture prophecies, delivered…Read the comment
