Context of Matthew 15:36
34Jesus asked them, “How many loaves of bread do you have?” They answered, “Seven, and a few small fish.” 35He ordered the crowd to sit down on the ground. He took the seven loaves and the fish and gave thanks to God. Then he broke the bread and gave it to the disciples, and they gave the bread and fish to the people. 37All of them ate as much as they wanted. The disciples picked up the leftover pieces and filled seven large baskets. 38Four thousand men had eaten. (This number does not include the women and children who had eaten.)

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 32-39Verses 32-39 The miracle recorded here - the feeding of the four thousand - took place on a mountain near the Sea of Galilee. The same account is recorded in Mark 8:1-10. The circumstances of the miracle are so similar to the one recorded in Matthew 14:14-21, as to need little additional explanation. Matthew 15:32 Three days, and have nothing to eat - This is not, perhaps, to be taken literally, but only that during that time they had been deprived of…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 29-39Verses 29-39 Whatever our case is, the only way to find ease and relief, is to lay it at Christ's feet, to submit it to him, and refer it to his disposal. Those who would have spiritual healing from Christ, must be ruled as he pleases. See what work sin has made; what various diseases human bodies are subject to. Here were such diseases as fancy could neither guess the cause nor the cure of, yet these were subject to the command of Christ. The spiritual…Read the comment
