12Now I will destine you for death. All of you will bow to be slaughtered. I called, but you didn’t answer. I spoke, but you didn’t listen. You did what I consider evil. You chose what I don’t like.

Context of Isaiah 65:12
10The Sharon Plain will be a pasture for flocks. The Achor Valley will be a resting place for cattle and for my people who search for me. 11You have abandoned the Lord and forgotten my holy mountain. You have prepared a table for the god of good fortune and offered cups full of spiced wine to the goddess of destiny. Now I will destine you for death. All of you will bow to be slaughtered. I called, but you didn’t answer. I spoke, but you didn’t listen. You did what I consider evil. You chose what I don’t like. 13This is what the Lord God says: My servants will eat, but you will be hungry. My servants will drink, but you will be thirsty. My servants will be glad, but you will be ashamed. 14My servants will sing because of the gladness in their hearts. But you will cry because of your sadness and wail because of your depression.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 12Therefore will I number you - Referring to Meni, which signifies number "Rabbi Eliezar said to his disciples, Turn to God one day before you die. His disciples said, How call a man know the day of his death? He answered, Therefore it is necessary that you should turn to God to-day, for possibly ye may die to-morrow."Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 12Therefore will I number you to the sword - There is undoubtedly an allusion here to the idol Meni mentioned in Isaiah 65:11, and a play upon the name, in accordance with a custom quite common in the sacred Scriptures. The word מניתי mâniytiy I will number,‘ is derived from מנה mânâh the same word from which מני menı̂y is derived. The idea is, since they worshipped a god whose name denoted number - perhaps one who was supposed to number or appoint the…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 11-16Verses 11-16 Here the different states of the godly and wicked, of the Jews who believed, and of those who persisted in unbelief, are set against one another. They prepared a table for that troop of deities which the heathen worship, and poured out drink-offerings to that countless number. Their worshippers spared no cost to honour them, which should shame the worshippers of the true God. See the malignity of sin; it is doing by choice what we know will…Read the comment

- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1212. number--"doom" you. Alluding to the "number," as Meni (Is 65:11) means. Retribution in kind, the punishment answering to the sin (compare 2Ch 36:14-17). I called, ye ... not answer--"I called," though "none had called" upon Me (Is 64:7); yet even then none "answered" (Pr 1:24). Contrast with this God and His people's mutual fellowship in prayer (Is 65:24).Read the comment
