Context of Ezekiel 16:25
23“ ‘How horrible! How horrible it will be for you! declares the Almighty Lord. After all your wickedness, 24you built yourself platforms and illegal worship sites in every city square. You also built worship sites at the head of every street. You used your beauty to seduce people there. You offered your body to everyone who passed by. You increased your acts of prostitution. 26You had sex with your lustful neighbors, the Egyptians. You used your prostitution to make me angry. 27“ ‘So I used my power against you. I took away some of your land, and I handed you over to your greedy enemies, the Philistines, who were ashamed of what you had done.

Commentaries on Ezekiel 16:25
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 23-25The prophets often described idolatry (worshiping false gods) as adultery (being unfaithful in marriage). For example, Hosea uses this picture to explain Israel’s sin (see Hosea 2). This comparison helped people understand that turning away from the Lord was like breaking a marriage promise. Ezekiel, however, gives much more detail than the other prophets. He does not describe Jerusalem as only confused or mistaken. He describes her as deeply corrupt. Her…Read the comment

She had yielded so much that, like a worn-out prostitute, her tempters became weary of her.
