Context of Deuteronomy 32:2
1Listen, heaven, and I will speak. Earth, hear the words from my mouth. Let my teachings come down like raindrops. Let my words drip like dew, like gentle rain on grass, like showers on green plants. 3I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Give our God the greatness he deserves! 4He is a rock. What he does is perfect. All his ways are fair. He is a faithful God, who does no wrong. He is honorable and reliable.

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 2like rain … like dew: This comparison shows how gentle and life-giving the teaching of Moses should be. Rain and dew softly water the ground and help plants grow. - Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 2-32-3. My doctrine shall drop, &c.--The language may justly be taken as uttered in the form of a wish or prayer, and the comparison of wholesome instruction to the pure, gentle, and insinuating influence of rain or dew, is frequently made by the sacred writers (Is 5:6; 55:10, 11).Read the comment
