Context of Acts 3:7
5So the man watched them closely. He expected to receive something from them. 6However, Peter said to him, “I don’t have any money, but I’ll give you what I do have. Through the power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth, walk!” Peter took hold of the man’s right hand and began to help him up. Immediately, the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8Springing to his feet, he stood up and started to walk. He went with Peter and John into the temple courtyard. The man was walking, jumping, and praising God. 9All the people saw him walking and praising God.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7And he took him - He took hold of his hand. To take hold of the hand in such a ease was an offer of aid, an indication that Peter was sincere, and was an inducement to him to make an effort. This may be employed as a beautiful illustration of the manner of God when he commands people to repent and believe. He does not leave them alone; he extends help, and aids their efforts. If they tremble, and feel that they are weak, and needy, and helpless, his hand…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-11Jesus promised that his disciples would do greater works than he did (John 14:12; see Mark 16:20). This promise came true through the signs, wonders, and mighty works of the apostles (Acts 2:43; 5:12; 8:4–8). The apostle Peter showed the power to heal in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth (3:6, 16). The healing was immediate and evident (3:8). It led the man to praise God (3:8–9; compare 2:47; 16:25; Luke 2:20; 17:15–18; 18:43; 19:37; 24:53). This event…Read the comment
