Context of Psalms 90:3
1Lord, from long ago, you have always been a safe home for us. 2From before the mountains began, and before you made the world, you were already there, as God. You have no beginning and no end. People return to dust in the ground when they die. You say, ‘Become dust again, you people.’ 4For you, a thousand years is only a short time. They pass as quickly as a day for you, or just a few hours in the night. 5You cause people's lives to end, as a dream finishes when you wake up. People are like grass that appears in the morning.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 3Thou turnest man to destruction - Literally, Thou shalt turn dying man, אנוש enosh, to the small dust, דכא dacca but thou wilt say, Return, ye children of Adam. This appears to be a clear and strong promise of the resurrection of the human body, after it has long slept, mingled with the dust of the earth.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 3Thou turnest man to destruction - In contradistinction from his own unchangeableness and eternity. Man passes away; God continues ever the same. The word rendered “destruction” - דכא dakkâ' - means properly anything beaten or broken small or very fine, and hence, “dust.” The idea here is, that God causes man to return to dust; that is, the elements which compose the body return to their original condition, or seem to mingle with the earth.
