Context of Psalms 65:7
5God, you are the one who saves us! You answer our prayers, and you do great things to rescue us. People from everywhere on earth trust in you, even those who live far away across the seas. 6You used your power to make the mountains, and you showed how strong you are. You stop the seas from being angry, so that their waters make no noise. You do the same with the angry nations. 8People who live far away see the great things that you have done. It makes them afraid. Everywhere on earth, east and west, people sing happy songs to praise you. 9You take care of the land. You send rain to make the earth good for plants. Your rivers are full of water. You cause the earth to give good crops so that the people have grain to eat.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 7Stilleth the noise of the seas - Thou art Sovereign over all the operation of sea and land. Earthquakes are under thy control: so are the flux and reflux of the sea; and all storms and tempests by which the great deep is agitated. Even the headstrong multitude is under thy control; for thou stillest the madness of the people.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7Which stilleth the noise of the seas - He calms the seas when they have been agitated by the storm. He causes the mighty waves to settle down, and the whole surface of the ocean becomes calm and smooth. The storm subsides at his command, and the sea is still. It was the manifestation of this power which demonstrated so clearly the divinity of the Lord Jesus, when he said to the troubled waves, “Peace, be still, and the wind ceased, and there was a great…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 6-13Verses 6-13 That Almighty strength which sets fast the mountains, upholds the believer. That word which stills the stormy ocean, and speaks it into a calm, can silence our enemies. How contrary soever light and darkness are to each other, it is hard to say which is most welcome. Does the watchman wait for the morning? so does the labourer earnestly desire the shades of evening. Some understand it of the morning and evening sacrifices. We are to look upon…Read the comment
