Context of Psalms 106:45
43Many times, the Lord rescued his people, but they had decided not to obey him. Their sins made them weaker and weaker. 44But the Lord still saw when they were in trouble. He answered them when they called to him for help. He remembered the covenant that he had made with them. Because of his faithful love for his people, he stopped punishing them. 46He caused all their enemies to be kind to them. 47Lord, our God, please save us! Bring us safely home from among the other nations. Then we will thank you! We will shout aloud to praise your holy name.

He remembered that covenant in their behalf; or, on account of that, he came and blessed them. And repented - He averted impending…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 34-48Verses 34-48 The conduct of the Israelites in Canaan, and God's dealings with them, show that the way of sin is down-hill; omissions make way for commissions: when they neglected to destroy the heathen, they learned their works. One sin led to many more, and brought the judgments of God on them. Their sin was, in part, their own punishment. Sinners often see themselves ruined by those who led them into evil.
