Context of Proverbs 24:23
2130. My child, respect and obey the Lord, and the king too. Do not be friends with people who turn against them. 22Both the Lord and the king have the power to give strong punishment. In a moment they can destroy people who turn against them. These are more things that wise people have said: When you judge people, be fair. It is not good to respect some people more than others. 24A judge must not say to a guilty person, ‘You are not guilty.’ If he does say that, everyone will curse him. People of all nations will say that he is bad. 25When judges decide to punish a guilty person, they will be happy, because God will bless them.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 23These things also belong to the wise - לחכמים אלה גם gam elleh lachachamim, "These also to wise." This appears to be a new section; and perhaps, what follows belongs to another collection. Probably fragments of sayings collected by wise men from the Proverbs of Solomon. - Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 23Belong to the wise - Either “are fitting for the wise, addressed to them,” or (as in the superscriptions of many of the Psalms) “are written by the wise.” Most recent commentators take it in the latter sense, and look on it as indicating the beginning of a fresh section, containing proverbs not ascribed to Solomon‘s authorship.
