Context of Mark 5:31
29As soon as she touched Jesus' coat, the blood stopped. She felt in her body that her illness was better. She knew that she was well again. 30Jesus knew immediately that something powerful had gone out from him. So he turned around in the crowd and he asked, ‘Who touched my clothes?’ His disciples replied, ‘You can see that the crowd is pushing against you. So you cannot ask who touched you!’ 32But Jesus looked around him. He wanted to see who had touched him. 33The woman knew what had happened to her. She felt very afraid. But she came to Jesus, and she went down on her knees in front of him. Then she told him everything that had happened to her.

Commentaries on Mark 5:31
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 31Thou seest the multitude thronging then, etc. - Many touch Jesus who are not healed by him: the reason is, they do it not by faith, through a sense of their wants, and a conviction of his ability and willingness to save them. Faith conveys the virtue of Christ into the soul, and spiritual health is the immediate consequence of this received virtue.Read the comment

Mark 5:26 Had suffered many things - Had resorted to many things painful, by the direction of the physicians, in order to be healed. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 21-34Verses 21-34 A despised gospel will go where it will be better received. One of the rulers of a synagogue earnestly besought Christ for a little daughter, about twelve years old, who was dying. Another cure was wrought by the way. We should do good, not only when in the house, but when we walk by the way, De 6:7. It is common with people not to apply to Christ till they have tried in vain all other helpers, and find them, as certainly they will…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 24-34As Jesus heads to Jairus's home, followed by a large crowd, Mark introduces a woman in the crowd who suffers from constant bleeding. This condition not only harms her health but also makes her ceremonially unclean. This prevents her from participating in normal community life (see Leviticus 15:25–27). She is an example of the faith that Jairus should have.Read the comment

"And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched Me"--"a certain person has touched Me"--"for I perceive that virtue is gone out of Me" (Lu 8:46). Yes, the multitude "thronged and…Read the comment
