Context of Leviticus 25:20
18The people must obey God's rules. If they do, they will be safe. 19You will be able to grow food on the land. And the people will have plenty to eat. They will be safe. The people may ask what they will eat in the seventh year. They will not have planted any seeds. 21God will cause a lot of food to grow in the sixth year. They will have food for three more years. 22When a person plants seed in the eighth year he will still be eating the crops that he planted in the sixth year. The next time he will harvest the plants from the fields will be in the ninth year.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 20What shall we eat the seventh year? - A very natural question, which could only be laid at rest by the sovereign promise in the next verse: I will Command my Blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for Three Years. - Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 8-22Verses 8-22 The word "jubilee" signifies a peculiarly animated sound of the silver trumpets. This sound was to be made on the evening of the great day of atonement; for the proclamation of gospel liberty and salvation results from the sacrifice of the Redeemer. It was provided that the lands should not be sold away from their families. So, those bound in servitude were set free during the Year of Jubilee…Read the comment

All prisoners and captives obtained their liberties…Read the comment
