Context of Job 23:12
10But he knows the way that I live. When he has finished testing me, he will see that I am pure. I will be as pure as gold. 11I have always lived in the way that God showed me. I have obeyed him faithfully. I have not turned away from his teaching. I have been careful to obey his commands. His words are more important to me than my food. 13But he is always true to himself. Nobody can change him. Whatever he wants to do, he does. 14He will do to me everything that he has decided to do. He has plans to do many things like this.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 12The commandment of his lips - The written law that proceeded from his own mouth. I have esteemed the words of his mouth - Mr. Good has given a better version of the original: In my bosom have I stored up the words of his mouth. The Asiatics carry every thing precious or valuable in their bosom, their handkerchiefs, jewels, purses, etc. Job, therefore, intimates that the words of God's mouth were to him a most precious treasure.Read the comment
