Context of Job 23:11
9When he does his work in the north, I do not see him. When he moves to the south, I still cannot find him anywhere. 10But he knows the way that I live. When he has finished testing me, he will see that I am pure. I will be as pure as gold. I have always lived in the way that God showed me. I have obeyed him faithfully. I have not turned away from his teaching. 12I have been careful to obey his commands. His words are more important to me than my food. 13But he is always true to himself. Nobody can change him. Whatever he wants to do, he does.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 11My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept - I have carefully marked his providential dealings; and in his way - his pure and undefiled religion - have I walked. I have not only been generally but particularly religious: I have attended carefully to the weightier matters of the law, and have not forgotten its slightest injunctions. Coverdale is curious: - Nevertheles my fete kepe his path, his hye strete have I holden, and not gone out of it. The…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 11My foot hath held his steps - Roberts, in his Oriental Illustrations, and the Editor of the Pictorial Bible, suppose that there is an allusion here to the active, grasping power which the Orientals have in their feet and toes. By constant usage they accustom themselves to make use of them in holding things in a manner which to us seems almost incredible, and they make the toes perform almost the work of fingers. We bind ours fast from early childhood in…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 8-12Verses 8-12 Job knew that the Lord was every where present; but his mind was in such confusion, that he could get no fixed view of God's merciful presence, so as to find comfort by spreading his case before him. His views were all gloomy. God seemed to stand at a distance, and frown upon him. Yet Job expressed his assurance that he should be brought forth, tried, and approved, for he had obeyed the precepts of God. He had relished and delighted in the…Read the comment
