Context of Ezekiel 25:8
6This is what the Almighty Lord says: You were happy when I punished Israel. You clapped your hands together. You stamped your feet on the ground. 7So listen! I will now use my power to punish you. I will allow other nations to take all your valuable things. I will completely remove you so that you will not be a nation any longer. I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.” The Almighty Lord says this: The people in Moab and Seir said, “Judah's people have become the same as all the other nations.” 9So listen! I will let enemies attack the towns on the border of Moab. I will destroy their greatest cities, Beth Jeshimoth, Baal Meon and Kiriathaim. 10I will give Moab's people to the people in the east as their slaves, together with the Ammonites. The other nations will not remember the Ammonites any more.

Commentaries on Ezekiel 25:8
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 8Moab and Seir do say - Seir means the Idumeans. It appears that both these, with the Ammonites, had made a league with Zedekiah, Jeremiah 27:3, which they did not keep; and it is supposed that they even joined with the Chaldeans.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 8Prophecies against Moab which lay south of Ammon, and shared Ammon‘s implacable hostility to the children of Israel. Seir was close to Moab. Edom is identified with Mount “Seir” in Ezekiel 35:1-15; and “Seir” is therefore probably coupled with “Moab” here because, being near neighbors closely leagued together, they expressed a common exultation at Jerusalem‘s fall.Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 8-17Verses 8-17 Though one event seem to the righteous and wicked, it is vastly different. Those who glory in any other defence and protection than the Divine power, providence, and promise, will, sooner or later, be ashamed of their glorying. Those who will not leave it to God to take vengeance for them, may expect that he will take vengeance on them. The equity of the Lord's judgments is to be observed, when he not only avenges injuries upon those that did…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 8-11The people of Moab believed they could attack Judah without punishment. They treated Judah as if it were just another nation. This was not true. Judah had been acting like the other nations (see Ezekiel 20:32). However, Judah was different because it had a covenant with God. God would not finally reject Judah. He would discipline his people, but he would not abandon them forever. Moab, however, would face judgment. Like Ammon, Moab would be removed from…Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 88. Moab, Seir, and Ammon were contiguous countries, stretching in one line from Gilead on the north to the Red Sea. They therefore naturally acted in concert, and in joint hostility to Judea. Judah is like ... all ... heathen--The Jews fare no better than others: it is of no use to them to serve Jehovah, who, they say, is the only true God.Read the comment
