Context of Exodus 37:18
16He used pure gold to make the things that would be on the table. He made plates, big spoons, jars and bowls. They would use those things to pour out drink offerings. 17Bezalel used one piece of pure gold to make the lampstand. He used a hammer to make it the right shape. He used the gold to make its base, its middle pole and the cups to hold the oil. The cups were like open flowers and closed flowers. There were six branches on the lampstand, three branches on each side of the middle pole. 19Three cups in the shape of almond flowers and their leaves were on each branch. Each of the six branches of the lampstand had three cups like that. 20On the lampstand itself there were four cups in the shape of almond flowers and their leaves.

- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-29It says that Bezalel made the ark of the covenant and all the furnishings, as well as the courtyard and its furnishings (37:1, 10, 17, 25; 38:1, 8, 9, 18). But this probably means he was in charge and guided the other craftsmen and seamstresses.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 17-2217-22. he made the candlestick of pure gold--Practical readers will be apt to say, "Why do such works with the hammer, when they could have been cast so much easier--a process they were well acquainted with?" The only answer that can be given is, that it was done according to order. We have no doubt but there were reasons for so distinctive an order, something significant, which has not been revealed to us [Napier]. The whole of that sacred building was…Read the comment
