Context of Psalms 55:18
16As for me, unto God will I call; and Jehovah will save me. 17Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray and moan aloud; and he will hear my voice. He hath redeemed my soul in peace from the battle against me: for there were many about me. 19God will hear, and afflict them: he that is seated of old, (Selah) ...because there is no change in them, and they fear not God. 20He hath put forth his hands against such as are at peace with him; he hath profaned his covenant.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 18He hath delivered my soul in peaee - The Hebrew is, “He has redeemed;” so also the Septuagint and Vulgate. Either the psalmist composed the psalm “after” the struggle was over, and in view of it, here speaks of what had actually occurred; or he is so confident of being redeemed and saved that he speaks of it as if it were already done. See Psalm 55:19. There are many instances in the…Read the comment

He shall hear us, and not blame us for coming too often; the oftener the more welcome. David had thought all were against him; but now he sees there were many with him, more than he supposed; and the glory of this he gives to God, for it is he that raises us up friends, and makes them faithful to us.
