Context of Psalms 3:6
4With my voice will I call to Jehovah, and he will answer me from the hill of his holiness. Selah. 5I laid me down and slept; I awaked, for Jehovah sustaineth me. I will not fear for myriads of the people that have set themselves against me round about. 7Arise, Jehovah; save me, my God! For thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheekbone, thou hast broken the teeth of the wicked. 8Salvation is of Jehovah; thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 6I will not be afraid - As the result of this new proof of the divine protection, and in view of all that God has done and has promised, the psalmist now says that he would not be afraid though any number of foes should rise up against him. Perhaps this confiding and exulting spirit may be regarded in some measure as the “result” of the calm and refreshing slumber which he had enjoyed. He had always been very safe under the Divine protection. This is applicable to the common mercies of every night, for which we ought to give thanks every morning…Read the comment
