Context of John 14:30
28Ye have heard that I have said unto you, I go away and I am coming to you. If ye loved me ye would rejoice that I go to the Father, for [my] Father is greater than I. 29And now I have told you before it comes to pass, that when it shall have come to pass ye may believe. I will no longer speak much with you, for the ruler of the world comes, and in me he has nothing; 31but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father has commanded me, thus I do. Rise up, let us go hence.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 30The prince of this world - , of this, is omitted by ABDEGHKLMS, Mt. BH, one hundred others; both the Syriac, later Persic, all the Arabic, and several of the primitive fathers. I rather think the omission of the pronoun makes the sense more general; for, had he said This world, the words might have been restrained to the Jewish state, or to the Roman government. But who is the person called here the prince of the world? Mr. Wakefield thinks that Christ…Read the comment
