Context of Psalms 101:6
4A devious heart will be far from me; I will not be involved with evil. 5I will destroy anyone who secretly slanders his neighbor; I cannot tolerate anyone with haughty eyes or an arrogant heart. My eyes favor the faithful of the land so that they may sit down with me. The one who follows the way of integrity may serve me. 7No one who acts deceitfully will live in my palace; the one who tells lies will not be retained here to guide me. 8Every morning I will destroy all the wicked of the land, wiping out all evildoers from the Lord’s city.

No irreligious or wicked man, whatever his abilities may be, shall be countenanced or supported by me. I will purify my court from the base, the irreligious, the avaricious, the venal, the profligate, and the wicked. He that walketh in a perfect way - He that is truly religious. - Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 6Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land - I will look to them to be employed in my house, and in my service. The word rendered “faithful” means those who are worthy of belief or confidence. It does not “necessarily” mean those who are pious or religious - though it is often used to denote such persons, in reference to the principal trait in the character of the pious, that is, confidence or faith in God.
