Context of Isaiah 30:26
24The oxen and donkeys that work the ground will eat salted fodder scattered with winnowing shovel and fork. 25Streams flowing with water will be on every high mountain and every raised hill on the day of great slaughter when the towers fall. The moonlight will be as bright as the sunlight, and the sunlight will be seven times brighter — like the light of seven days — on the day that the Lord bandages his people’s injuries and heals the wounds he inflicted. 27Look! The name of the Lord is coming from far away, his anger burning and heavy with smoke. His lips are full of fury, and his tongue is like a consuming fire. 28His breath is like an overflowing torrent that rises to the neck. He comes to sift the nations in a sieve of destruction and to put a bridle on the jaws of the peoples to lead them astray.

Commentaries on Isaiah 30:26
- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 26Shall be sevenfold - The text adds הימים שבעת כאור keor shibath haiyamayim, "as the light of seven days, "a manifest gloss, taken in from the margin; it is not in most of the copies of the Septuagint. It interrupts the rhythmical construction, and obscures the sense by a false, or at least an unnecessary, interpretation. By moon, sun, light, are to be understood the abundance of spiritual and temporal felicity with which God should bless them in the days…Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 26Moreover - In addition to all the blessings which are enumerated above. The light of the moon - Light is in the Scriptures an emblem of purity, intelligence, happiness, prosperity; as darkness is an emblem of ignorance, calamity, and sin. This figure is often used by the poets. Thus Horace: Soles melius nitent. Carm. liv.: Od. v. 8. The figure of augmenting light to denote the blessings of religion, and especially of the gospel, is often employed by…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 19-26Verses 19-26 God's people will soon arrive at the Zion above, and then they will weep no more for ever. Even now they would have more comfort, as well as holiness, if they were more constant in prayer. A famine of bread is not so great a judgment as a famine of the word of God. There are right-hand and left-hand errors; the tempter is busy courting us into by-paths. It is happy if, by the counsels of a faithful minister or friend, or the checks of…Read the comment
