Context of 1 Chronicles 10:6
4Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, “Draw your sword and run me through with it, or these uncircumcised men will come and torture me.” But his armor-bearer would not do it because he was terrified. Then Saul took his sword and fell on it. 5When his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his own sword and died. So Saul and his three sons died — his whole house died together. 7When all the men of Israel in the valley saw that the army had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they abandoned their cities and fled. So the Philistines came and settled in them. 8The next day when the Philistines came to strip the slain, they found Saul and his sons dead on Mount Gilboa.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6So Saul died - and all his house - Every branch of his family that had followed him to the war was cut off; his three sons are mentioned as being the chief. No doubt all his officers were slain.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 6All his house died together - Not the whole of his family, nor even “all his sons” (see 2 Samuel 2:8-15; 2 Samuel 3:6-15; 2 Samuel 4:1-12). The phrase is perhaps an abbreviation of the expression in the parallel passage of Samuel 1 Samuel 31:6.Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 6-12Saul died together with his three sons and all his house: The Chronicler does not mention Saul’s armor bearer or the rest of his troops (see 1 Samuel 31:6). This emphasizes God's role in removing Saul and replacing him with David (1 Chronicles 10:14).Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 66. Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house--his sons and courtiers who were there engaged in the battle.
