Context of Psalms 69:30
28May they be blotted out of the Book of Life and not listed with the righteous. 29But I am in pain and distress; let Your salvation protect me, O God. I will praise God’s name in song and exalt Him with thanksgiving. 31And this will please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with horns and hooves. 32The humble will see and rejoice. You who seek God, let your hearts be revived!

It was in such circumstances that a large part of the psalms were composed; and since others besides the psalmist are often in such circumstances, the Book of Psalms becomes permanently useful in the church. It is not always necessary now to “compose” a song or…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 30-36Verses 30-36 The psalmist concludes the psalm with holy joy and praise, which he began with complaints of his grief. It is a great comfort to us, that humble and thankful praises are more pleasing to God than the most costly, pompous sacrifices.
