Context of Psalms 31:16
14But I trust in You, O LORD; I say, “You are my God.” 15My times are in Your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me. Make Your face shine on Your servant; save me by Your loving devotion. 17O LORD, let me not be ashamed, for I have called on You. Let the wicked be put to shame; let them lie silent in Sheol. 18May lying lips be silenced— lips that speak with arrogance against the righteous, full of pride and contempt.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 9-18Verses 9-18 David's troubles made him a man of sorrows. Herein he was a type of Christ, who was acquainted with grief. David acknowledged that his afflictions were merited by his own sins, but Christ suffered for ours. David's friends durst not give him any assistance. God will be sure to order and dispose all for the best, to all those who commit their…Read the comment
