Context of Isaiah 27:6
4I am not angry. If only thorns and briers confronted Me, I would march and trample them, I would burn them to the ground. 5Or let them lay claim to My protection; let them make peace with Me— yes, let them make peace with Me.” In the days to come, Jacob will take root. Israel will bud and blossom and fill the whole world with fruit. 7Has the LORD struck Israel as He struck her oppressors? Was she killed like those who slayed her? 8By warfare and exile You contended with her and removed her with a fierce wind, as on the day the east wind blows.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 6To take root "From the root" - For ישרש yashresh, I read, with the Syriac, משרש mishshoresh . And for ופרח יציץ yatsits uparach, פרח יציצו yatsitsu parach, joining the ו vau to the first word, and taking that into construction with the first part of the sentence, Israel shall bud forth. I suppose the dialogue to be continued in this verse, which pursues the same image of the allegory, but in the way of metaphor.Read the comment
- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 6He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root - This language is derived from the vine, as the shoots or cuttings of the vine take root and flourish. To take root, therefore, is an emblem denoting that the descendants of Jacob, or the people of God, would increase and prosper. Shall blossom and bud - An image also taken from the vine, or from fruit trees in general, and meaning that they should greatly flourish in the time succeeding their return…Read the comment

The Jews yet are kept a separate and a numerous people; they have not been rooted out as those who slew them. The condition of that nation, through so many ages, forms a…Read the comment
