Context of Psalms 66:13
11You brought us into the net; You laid a heavy burden [of servitude] on us. 12You made men (charioteers) ride over our heads [in defeat]; We went through fire and through water, Yet You brought us out into a [broad] place of abundance [to be refreshed]. I shall come into Your house with burnt offerings; I shall pay You my vows, 14Which my lips uttered And my mouth spoke as a promise when I was in distress. 15I shall offer to You burnt offerings of fat lambs, With the [sweet] smoke of rams; I will offer bulls with male goats. Selah.

If the psalm was composed on occasion of the return from the Babylonian captivity, it means that, as their first act, the people would go to the house of God, and acknowledge his goodness to them, and render him praise. On the word burnt-offerings, see the notes at Isaiah 1:11. I will pay…Read the comment

We cannot share these spiritual privileges, if we retain the love of sin in our hearts, though we refrain from the gross practice, Sin, regarded in the heart, will spoil the comfort and success of prayer; for the…Read the comment
