Context of Psalms 119:86
84How many are the days of Your servant [which he must endure]? When will You execute judgment on those who persecute me? 85The arrogant (godless) have dug pits for me, Men who do not conform to Your law. All Your commandments are faithful and trustworthy. They have persecuted me with a lie; help me [Lord]! 87They had almost destroyed me on earth, But as for me, I did not turn away from Your precepts. 88According to Your steadfast love refresh me and give me life, So that I may keep and obey the testimony of Your mouth.

- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 81-88Verses 81-88 The psalmist sought deliverance from his sins, his foes, and his fears. He was become like a leathern bottle, which, if hung up in the smoke, is dried and shrivelled up. We must ever be mindful of God's statutes. The days of the believer's mourning shall be ended; they are but for a…Read the comment
