Context of Psalms 68:7
5Sing to God, sing praises to His Name. Prepare the road for Him who rides through the deserts, whose Name is Adonai— and rejoice before Him. 6A father of orphans, defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling. God settles the lonely in a home. He leads prisoners out to prosperity. But the rebellious live in a parched land. 8O God, when You went out before Your people, when You marched through the desert—Selah— 9the earth shook, the heavens rained at the presence of God —the One of Sinai— at the presence of God, God of Israel.

- Barnes’ Notes on the Bible · v. 7O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people - That is, in conducting them through the desert to the promised land. All that had been said of him in the previous verses is here confirmed by the provision…Read the comment
- Matthew Henry Concise Commentary · v. 7-14Verses 7-14 Fresh mercies should put us in mind of former mercies. If God bring his people into a wilderness, he will be sure to go before them in it, and to bring them out of it. He provided for them, both in the wilderness and in Canaan. The daily manna seems here meant. And it looks to the spiritual provision for God's Israel. The Spirit of grace and the gospel of grace are the plentiful rain, with which God confirms his inheritance, and from which…Read the comment
