Psalms 5:13

Context of Psalms 5:13

11Declare them guilty, O God! Let them fall by their own schemes. Banish them because of their many transgressions— for they have rebelled against You. 12But let all who take refuge in You rejoice! Let them always shout for joy! You will shelter them and they exult— those who love Your Name. For You bless the righteous, Adonai. You surround him with favor as a shield.

Commentaries on Psalms 5:13

• Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 1-13This group of psalms moves from an orderly world to a troubled one. Psalms 1–2 describe stability. The righteous person is blessed, and the Lord’s anointed king rules with authority. In the psalms that follow, the tone changes. The Lord’s anointed cries out for help. He faces enemies, strong opposition, and evil plans. It even seems at times that the Lord is far away. The psalmist feels confusion and distress instead of confidence and calm.Read the comment
