Context of Numbers 6:22
20The kohen will wave them before Adonai as a wave offering. They are holy, and belong to the kohen along with the breast that was waved and the thigh that was presented. Afterward, the Nazirite may drink wine. 21This is the Torah regarding the Nazirite who vows his offering to Adonai with regard to his consecration, besides whatever else he can afford. He must fulfill the vow he has made, in accordance with the Torah of his consecration.’” Again Adonai spoke to Moses saying, 23“Speak to Aaron and to his sons saying: Thus you are to bless Bnei-Yisrael, by saying to them: 24‘Adonai bless you and keep you!

In so rich a…Read the comment
- Tyndale Open Study Notes · v. 22-27The priestly blessing connects to the themes of worship and purity in chapters 5–6. It is a prayer where priests ask for God's blessings for Israel. As representatives of God, priests had the duty to pray (compare Leviticus 9:23; Deuteronomy 10:8). This prayer is similar to the high priestly prayer of Jesus in John 17.Read the comment
- Jamieson–Fausset–Brown Commentary · v. 1-222-8. When either man or woman ... shall vow a vow of a Nazarite--that is, "a separated one," from a Hebrew word, "to separate." It was used to designate a class of persons who, under the impulse of extraordinary piety and with a view to higher degrees of religious improvement, voluntarily renounced the occupations and pleasures of the world to dedicate themselves unreservedly to the divine service. The vow might be taken by either sex, provided they had…Read the comment
